The Foundation, which unites several London institutions, including the Barbican Arts Centre, Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London Symphony Orchestra, City of London Festival and Worshipful Company of Musicians, will support individuals or small groups in classical, jazz, folk and world music genres, following annual nominations and auditions. This year saw 50 nominations from arts organisations from around the UK reduced to a shortlist of 20, who were invited to audition and interview. This year’s six soloists and two groups will receive a series of concerts, mentorship from experienced musicians and industry experts, and marketing and PR support. The winners are: cellist Mikhail Nemtsov, recorder player Miriam Nerval, saxophonist Alastair Penman, violinist Mari Poll, harpist Claire Iselin pianist Cordelia Williams, folk band Bridie Jackson & The Arbour, and alternative-folk group Tir Eolas. All award winners will perform at the City Music Foundation Showcase Concert on October 17 at Milton Court Concert Hall, Guildhall School of Music & Drama.
