Béla Viktor János Bartók was a Hungarian composer and pianist. He is considered one of the most important composers of the 20th century.Almost half a century earlier, Bartók had written his Sonata for Violin and Piano in E minor. The folk-inspired Sonata for Solo Violin was the last work that Bartók wrote for the instrument. James Ehnes presented Béla Bartók’s concertos for violin and for viola is generally more lyrical and less bitingly Hungarian gypsy style. Ehnes certainly delivers immaculate technical mastery and also provides a satisfying ‘musical’ performance within the limitations. He also highlights the Romanian influences in Bartók’s Sonatina for piano.
