Taylor Swift leads for UMG artists with nods in five categories including Artist of the Year. Following close behind Taylor Swift is Rihanna, Florida Georgia Line and Robin Thicke who are up for four awards each. Imagine Dragons is competing in three categories. Rihanna joined Swift in the all-encompassing Favorite Female Artist category. Her album, Unapologetic, has yielded Top 10 singles in “Diamonds” and “Stay” and new single “Pour It Up.” Swift’s pop infused Red album is also up for favorite Country and Pop/Rock album. Top hits from the summer of 2013, Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” and the remix of “Cruise” by Florida Georgia Line with rapper Nelly, will compete for the crown of the year’s best song. Thicke also added nominations for Favorite Male Artist (both Soul/R&B and Pop/Rock entries), while Florida Georgia Line garnered nominations for Favorite Country Album for Here’s to the Good Times. New Artist of the Year nominees include American Idol winner Phillip Phillips, breakout teen idol Ariana Grande, country pop crossovers Florida Georgia Line and platinum-selling rockers Imagine Dragons. It was also announced that Imagine Dragons will be performing during the telecast. Additional performers and presenters will be announced in the weeks leading up to the awards.
