Representated of neoromanticism in Polish music, Władysław Żeleński (6 July 1837 – 23 January 1921) was a Polish composer, pianist and organist. Also, Aleksander Zarzycki (February 26, 1834– November 1, 1895) was a Polish pianist, composer and conductor, author of piano and violin compositions, mazurkas, polonaises, krakowiaks, and songs. This 59th volume of the Romantic Piano Concerto series features Jonathan Plowright, whose brilliant and utterly idiomatic performances of Romantic Polish piano music have confirmed him as a master of this repertoire. This album is his collaboration with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and Lukasz Borowicz to perform three very obscure but fascinating works.
