Founded five years ago, La Nuova Musica is a vocal and instrumental ensemble dedicated to reinvigorating the music of the Renaissance and Baroque, it has shot to that “one of the most exciting consorts in the Early Music field”. The Dixit Dominus of Handel and Vivaldi on Harmonia Mundi is directed by David Bates, the disc includes a pair of contrasting settings of the Psalm 109, Dixit Dominus – Handel’s HWV232, which coposed in 1707 during his visit to Italy, and Vivaldi’s RV807, his third setting of the Psalm, dating from the 1730s. The album also includes Vivaldi’s motet for solo voice, In furore iustissimae irae, featuring soprano Lucy Crowe.
