Public voting has opened for the Gramophone Artist of the Year award, with ten of the brightest stars in the classical music firmament to choose from. Past winners include Alison Balsom last year and Joyce DiDonato (2010).
Nominees for the 2014 edition of the magazine’s prestigious awards include violinist Renaud Capuçon, whose recent album Distant Light juxtaposes concertos by Bach and Vasks and astonished critics.
The Russian conductor of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Vasily Petrenko, is up for an award, as is another brilliant young maestro, Yannick Nézet-Séguin. Full list of nominees below — who is your favourite?
