This album of Prokofiev’s March from The Love for Three Oranges suite performed by the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Andrew Litton. The recording, on the BIS label, also includes Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 6 and the Lieutenant Kijé suite. The disc was given four stars in the July issue of BBC Music Magazine , and the review as ‘How welcome of Andrew LItton and his sophisticated Bergen orchestra to tackle Prokofiev’s overtly tragic Sixth Symphony, rather than the more ambiguous Fifth… Litton’s work on detail here is unstinting, and it pays off in the whirling dissolve as Lieutenant Kijé, the solder who never was, is “buried” in the ingeniously score suite.’
