Nimoy, famous for his role as Mr Spock in the long-running sci-fi franchise, will guest as narrator in key space-related works likeHolst’s The Planets and Richard Strauss’ Also Spake Zarathustra .

Nimoy will also provide narration for music from Boston Pops conductor laureate John Williams’ E.T., Close Encounters of the Third Kind and, in a franchise-mingling display, Star Wars.

The concerts will take place on May 23rd and 24th, with Sarah Hicks conducting. Previously, Nimoy’s musical exploits have included five solo albums and directing a pop video for The Bangles in 1985. He also recently appeared in the video for Bruno Mars’ song  ‘Lazy Song’.

More recently, Nimoy has been diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), caused primarily by smoking.
