The album, which also marks Jenkins’ 10th year in the music industry, is a return to more traditionally classical repertoire for the Welsh mezzo-soprano.
Home Sweet Home will feature works by Bach, Holst, Elgar and Beethoven alongside a vocal transcription of Ludovico Einaudi’s modern classic ‘I Giorni’.
She commented: “Making this album has been an absolute dream. I am so thankful to be in a place where creativity is encouraged, classical music is understood & where I’ve been allowed to return to where my heart lies musically. This record is me at my most natural, my most authentic and I can’t wait to share it with my very valued fans.”
Jenkins, who received her OBE from The Queen earlier this year, also collaborates on the album with fellow crossover stars like David Garrett (on Beethoven’s ‘Ode To Joy’) and tenor Alfie Boe.
Other repertoire for the album includes patriotic favourites like the Welsh national anthem (‘Land Of My Father’) and ‘How Great Thou Art’, which was voted the Nation’s Favourite Hymn in 2013.
