Julia Fischer born in Munich, Germany, is of German-Slovakian parentage. Her active repertoire spans from Bach to Penderecki, from Vivaldi to Shostakovich, containing over 40 works with orchestra and about 60 works of chamber music. This recording has chosen a rare and inspired coupling, the Bruch G minor and Dvorak A minor Violin Concertos. With excellent support from the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra under the baton of maestro David Zinman, the violinist and orchestra are balanced more naturally, the new concerto album is superb, producing exceptional versions of this well-matched program of Romantic violin concerto works.
