Electrola was part of the EMI Classics unit in Germany best known for their rich catalogs, masterful artists and the iconic gramophone trademark. The Electrola-recordings are considered as legends, as wonderful and rare discoveries. The new batch includes the baroque opera “Die großmütige Tomyris” by Reinhard Keiser, recorded in 1988, Salieri’s “Les Danaiden”, Alban Berg’s “Lulu” – with Anneliese Rothenberger as Lulu – Bizet’s “Carmen” and Offenbach’s “Les Contes d’Hoffmann” – both sung in German -, Lortzing’s comic opera “Der Waffenschmied” and the album “Wie einst in schöner’n Tagen” – featuring salon music of the Belle Epoque, sung by the legendary soprano Cathy Berberian.
